Habersham County Jail Roster Status
The Habersham Sheriff's Inmate Inquiry page still says the Sheriff's Office provides current inmate information as a public service and warns that the list opens a third-party website. During research, that third-party Interop destination returned a notice that the website was removed per the Habersham County Sheriff's Office. That finding changes the practical search path. The online county roster is not a reliable live lookup, so jail phone inquiry and written records requests are the working routes for current Habersham County inmate records.
The roster gap is especially important in Habersham because the county jail may hold more inmates than its original 130-bed capacity and may use out-of-county housing for up to 60 or more people. A caller may be looking for a Habersham County inmate who is not physically in the Clarkesville jail building. The Habersham County Detention Center remains the local control point for booking, intake, classification, bond, release, and custody questions unless the person has moved to state, federal, or immigration custody.
How to Search Habersham County Inmates
Because the official online list is unavailable, the steps for finding a person in the Habersham County jail are a fallback chain, not a normal roster search. Start with the sheriff's official pages so the source is clear, then move to phone or records routes. Have the person's full name, date of birth if known, arrest date, incident location, and case number ready. If the person may have been sentenced, search GDC as a separate step.
- Open the official Inmate Inquiry page and confirm whether the roster link has returned.
- If the Interop link remains removed, call the Detention Center at 706-839-0500 or jail/admin at 706-754-6666.
- Ask for current custody status, release date, bail amount, sentence information, and whether any hold blocks release.
- For a written record, send a specific request to so_records@habershamga.com or submit it in person.
- If the person is sentenced to state prison, use the GDC offender query instead of the county jail route.
The sheriff's contact page lists jail and administrative phone numbers and a non-emergency dispatch line. Dispatch is not a records office, so use it for non-life-threatening law-enforcement routing, not for legal advice or background checks.
Habersham County Roster Search Fields
The research could not inspect a live county inmate profile or search form because the roster destination was removed. The confirmed fields below are from the official access page and removed vendor result. That is still useful because it tells users why a normal name search may fail and which official channels should replace it.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| See the List Here / Inmate Inquiry | Outbound link | Not applicable | Official sheriff page link points to the removed Interop roster. |
| Search fields | Unavailable | Unknown | No name, booking number, date, or facility fields were visible in a live public form. |
| Buttons | Link | Not applicable | "See the List Here" and an Inmate Inquiry card link were documented. |
| Notices | Text | Not applicable | Official page carries accuracy, third-party-link, and external-link notices. |
| Login | Not visible | Unknown | No login field was visible because the roster page itself was unavailable. |
What Habersham County Inmate Profiles Show
A current official Habersham County inmate profile was not visible online. The fields below should be requested by phone or through open records when needed. The sheriff's visitation page says the Detention Center can answer release date, bail amount, sentence information, and other inmate-related questions. Court dates and formal filed charges may require the Clerk of Court because booking charges can differ from the charges filed later by the prosecutor.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Identity of the person booked or held; not visible through the removed roster. |
| Booking number | Jail tracking number to request on a booking sheet. |
| Booking date/time | When jail intake occurred, if released by the sheriff or court record. |
| Charges | Initial jail charges, which may change after prosecutor review. |
| Bond/bail amount | Release amount or no-bond status available through the jail phone line. |
| Release date/status | Whether the person remains in custody, has been released, or may be held elsewhere. |
| Mugshot | Booking photo request route, subject to Georgia booking-photo limits. |
| Housing/location | Facility location, important because out-of-county overflow is possible. |
Habersham County Jail and GDC Records
Georgia.gov explains that the GDC search covers people serving in Georgia Department of Corrections facilities, while county jail inmates should be found through county channels. Habersham has a state prison inside the county, Lee Arrendale State Prison, but it is not a sheriff's jail. Search GDC for sentenced state offenders, not the Habersham jail phone line, unless the person is still awaiting trial or serving a local sentence.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | Habersham Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or one-year-or-less sentence | Jail phone and sheriff open records | Habersham County Detention Center |
| Sentenced state offender | GDC offender query | Includes Lee Arrendale if assigned there |
| Federal prisoner | BOP inmate locator | No BOP prison found in Habersham County |
| Immigration detainee | ICE ODLS | No ICE detention facility found in Habersham County |
| Notification search | VINELink Georgia | Supplemental custody notification tool |
Habersham County Jail Facilities
The local jail and the state prison serve different purposes. The Detention Center is the booking and local detention facility. Lee Arrendale is a state prison with a GDC locator, GDC visitation rules, and state prison programming. Use the correct facility page when deciding where to call, visit, write, or send money.

Booking Process in Habersham County
The Jail Division handles booking, intake, classification, inmate transportation, front desk duties, and supervision of the county jail population. After an arrest by the sheriff, city police, state patrol, or another agency, the person is normally brought to the Detention Center unless medical clearance or another agency process changes the route. Intake creates the booking record, receives property, records charges, and starts custody status tracking.
Fingerprints and a booking photo are normally part of intake, but Georgia law limits law-enforcement booking-photo posting and release. Classification then decides housing and security assignment. If bond is available, bonding transactions occur in the Detention Center lobby. For felony charges, the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney later reviews the evidence and may present the case to a grand jury, so the jail charge is only the starting point.
Habersham County Inmate Visitation Rules
The official visitation page says Habersham uses Paytel for phone calls, messaging, and two-way real-time video visitation. Video can be used at any time except between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. when both the visitor and inmate are logged into Paytel. The jail may deny, postpone, or cancel visits for security, discipline, emergency, or administrative reasons.

Contacting Habersham County Inmates
Personal mail for Habersham County inmates is routed through JailATM, opened, scanned, and sent electronically. Legal mail must be mailed directly to the jail from a legally approved entity or attorney of record. Business documents and transactional originals go to Jail Administration at the Detention Center, where staff place property or coordinate review and signature rather than delivering those documents as ordinary inmate mail.
| Mail or Contact Type | Address / Rule |
|---|---|
| Personal mail | JailATM.com - Habersham County Detention Center, Inmate Name/Inmate Number, 925B Peachtree St. NE, Box 2062, Atlanta, GA 30309 |
| Legal mail | Mailed directly to the jail from an attorney or approved legal entity |
| Business documents | Attn: Jail Administration - Inmate Name/Inmate Number, 1000 Detention Drive, Clarkesville, GA 30523 |
| Phone and messaging | Paytel provides phone, messaging, and video visitation services |
Habersham County Commissary and Funds
The sheriff's visitation page links JailATM for deposits and mail processing. It does not publish a Habersham-specific fee schedule in the research, so fee amounts should be confirmed with the vendor or the jail before sending money. Do not send cash through the mail. Bulk packages, pornography, more than 10 photographs, suspicious mail, and correspondence from other detention facilities are not accepted under the published rules.
Bond money is a separate issue from commissary money. The sheriff's bonding page says bonding transactions take place in the Detention Center lobby, and a $20 cash-only Sheriff's Bonding Fee is collected with each bond except municipal bonds. The official page lists professional surety, property bond, online cash or card bond, and transfer bond routes. Always confirm that the person is bondable before paying a bonding company or using an online payment route, because another warrant, probation hold, parole hold, immigration detainer, state hold, federal hold, or court no-bond order can stop release even after payment.
The visitation, mail, and Paytel page screenshot shows the county's Paytel, JailATM, mail, and video-visitation instructions.
That page is the controlling county source for communication and mail rules when roster details are not enough.
Note: Confirm custody status with the jail before sending money, because release, transfer, or overflow housing can change the correct route.
